GiottoIn his Poetics Aristotle considers the essence of arts in imitation. Imitation is the reproduction of reality. Concerning the Invisible Theatre, this is tantamount an attempt at revival. If we perceive the Invisible Theatre as art then its aim is not merely aesthetic, indeed primary not aesthetic but metaphysical, since it may reflect the timeless content of the Spirit and can help to lead back one (cp. re-ligare: religio) to his own transcendent origin. This means the method of Invisible Theatre can open the Wanderer’s eye to something important and can let the Wanderers reflect on existential questions.

MihályIn our present age we form an opinion on the works of art mostly in terms of the feelings induced by them. So we consider the things that we like to be beautiful and appreciate them as sources of joy. However the performance involves more than aesthetics. The origin of the word aesthetics means physical excitability. A meaning like this has hardly any connection to the Spirit's timeless content. The performance generates feelings of course and indeed may induce huge emotions. But if we stayed at this emotional perception only, then the creative characteristic of Invisible Theatre would actually remain entertainment and autotelic exclusively.

SzabadítóThe real essence of beauty is inseparable from truth. Thus, the original or sacred understanding of art is a special kind of knowledge and a skill to let the idea mould into material. If is knowledge, then it is beyond autotelism, is useful, and has a sense. The perfomance involves an encounter of sense and sensibility. We have to strive not to let ourselves be satisfied with the induced feelings, but try to make a deeper understanding through these. Therefore the framework of the Invisible Theatre and the possibility of conversation between the Wanderers and Ferrymen after the performance are crucial factors. The interpretation of emotions and feelings may namely contribute to the appearance of the angel.

Every kind of art has a language that we should know profoundly to be lead by it to the aim of art. The language of Invisible Theatre is a medium which is presently being elaborated in details by the Invisible Theatre-company. Its language should be a device which lets the spirituality revive, hereby treating the so-called borderline situations, becoming acquainted with our inner world and let the function of sacred arts come true.
